WOW!!!! I'm not going to lie I'm jealous. I've only encounterd a fox once and that was at night with a buddy of mine after we got pictures of the sunset. These pictures are great! I love the one of the deer with the bridge in the background. So close to the fox too, did she use a longer zoom lens?
Have to agree..... been there a bazillion times and never saw a fox. Just good timing and probably a quiet day.
Hey Erik Nice shots, #1 looks great for his expression, being protective. I've only seen foxes in the early morning hours , around sunrise, was this shot during that time? Deer are such beautiful creatures in my eyes. I amazed people like to hunt them other than food (I'm not against hunting & I'm not looking to start a debate it's just not my cup of tea ... lol) I've come across them on FI over by the lighthouse and sometimes they act very friendly maybe even too friendly to a degree especially the young. Anyway Thanks for Sharing!
These shots were taken hand-held with a Pentax 55-300MM. The fox was walking alongside the brush while we were riding in the car . It was around 1:00 PM Sunday. We took the ride to pickup a 4WD permit at the park office and decided to take a few deer pictures (they're always around). We came across the fox on the south side of the road just east of the CG station. One of Suffolk's finest pulled up to us thinking we were having car problems. The officer said the light snow tends to bring out all sorts of critters. We got lucky.
Here's what I believe is a juvenile Sharp Shinned Hawk that was perched on my neighbors tree a few weeks ago. It was o nly there for a moment and he took off. Luckily I got one shot off but it was through the glass of the patio door.
Nice capture. I have a few fox where I live... usually see them at night when I am going to sleep (11-12), never see them when it is light out. My sister works at Brookhaven National Lab and says there are a ton there also. Thanks for sharing the photos!
Yea, having the camera with you at the moment is a huge bonus, lol My wife told me she saw a red fox crossing the street while driving back from a school drop off.
Well my wife just got home from work and there was a message for her that Newsday will include the photo she took of the fox's face (#2, above) in the Top 5 Photos of the Week section of this Friday's paper. She's really happy about that & it made her Valentine's Day extra special for sure (& mine too!).
