So ... I kindof sordof told all my neighbors that I would do FREE family portraits of them. I need models so I'm "TFP " all the way. Thats fine I'm cool with it . However ... I didn't realize SO many of them would come out of the woodwork and want photos ! I don't want to do the same shots with every family . I have already created a small shot list . But i really would like some more ideas . Heres my list so far .
Outside Garden- Lots of flowers and color . Ton of close ups. Sweet shots with parents.
Dinning room table - Kids playing with their legos and toys . parents smiling . All very natural tho . l just want to create this environment. not too much set up here. Also i want these in B& W .
Living room - THrow all the couch cushions on the floor have the kids lay on their backs . get the host from above . Ill have to bring a step ladder for this one . I'm only 5'5 . I thinking b & w for these too .
Kitchen - I was thinking of having them cook some pasta . Everyone helping and having a good time. I thought that would be a cute photo. Maybe , i can do this with cookie dough for the younger ones ..it would have to be the last shoot of the day . This sounds messy..
The famous " jumping in the air " shot - I've never tried this .. I'm not even sure how to really do it .. or what i can have them jump off of . ... ill have to think more about this one.
S**T I'm really starting to get nervous now .. what did i get myself into ? what if I'm horrible at this ? yikes.

    Only if I ask
How about bring them to a park... very natural, kids won't even realize your there! If you can get a Chefs hat or Apron, that would look good with the cooking scene. The girls really like pretending to be princesses, so maybe if you ask them to bring their princess outfits... they all seem to have them! LOL! Good Luck, sounds like your going to be busy, busy, busy, but having fun with what you love to do most... photography!

Just make sure the ice cream is at the "end" of the shoot! LOL! I've had a birthday party on location at the park shoot get ruined when the ring pops they were given gave them all blue, green, or whatever color the ring pop was" lips and tongues! Hard to correct even in photoshop!

I take it Mr. Softie is a NY pillar where ice cream is concerned. I have never heard of them out here.

How about some of the parents giving kids piggy back rides and such? Or closeups of the parents kissing the kids on the cheek, like really squishing the kids face in between them. Or close ups of the kids making funny faces at the parents. I got these ideas from my cousin who runs this studio: http://www.venturephotography.com/uk/gallery/

Yeah there is. Great poses and photos - but alot of those pics look like they took some sophisticated lighting to setup.
