Taken on St. Croix last year. He was about 25 feet away in a tree and I must have taken a dozen before I got a reasonably clean shot with my shaky hands.
Oh thats nice, I would of liked to see the rest of the wing on the top. Other than that I like the blank sky.Nice shot of a hard subject!
LOL, I wish I could have been there as you tried to take the shot. Got a chuckle out of that from experience. OOF but considering the circumstances, I dont think you could have done better than that.
Thanks guys! I would have liked to get the whole wing in as well. My arms were getting really tired holding up the camera with the lens almost fully extended. To make it worse, there was a breeze that made things a little more interesting.
Very cool shot, I agree with Rich about the wing tip. Did you crop it out or is that as shot? I would like to see if you darken the exposure if you could get more detail out of the wings, if you use lightroom you can try the recovery slider. just my 2 cents, but very nice photo.(dragonfly's rule)
This was the actual shot. No cropping involved. I'm still new to Lightroom. What is the recovery slider?
I thought so Ariel, but what does it do? Is it related to potential cropping the camera might have done?
No, nothing about cropping. It could help bring back detail in the veins of the wings lost by too much exposure. If you really wanted to fix the wing, you could probably add more canvas to the top and copy one of the other wing tips to add on. But is it worth it...
